Benefits & candidacy
What are the benefits of HRT?
Benefits may include:
- Increased energy and focus
- Improved mood and mental clarity
- Better sleep quality
- Enhanced libido and sexual function
- Easier weight management and muscle maintenance
- Reduction in hot flashes, night sweats, and other menopausal symptoms
How do I know if I need hormone therapy?
You may be a candidate if you're experiencing symptoms such as:
- Fatigue
- Mood swings or depression
- Low libido
- Weight gain or muscle loss
- Hot flashes or irregular periods
- Brain fog or poor concentration
Your provider will also assess your lab work and health history before recommending treatment.
How long before I start to feel better?
Some people notice improvement within a few weeks, while others may take 6–12 weeks. Full stabilization and optimal results often occur within 3–6 months, depending on your body's response and consistency with your plan.
Will I be on HRT forever?
Not necessarily. Some patients stay on hormone therapy long term, while others use it for a defined period. The decision is personalized and based on your goals, symptom control, and overall health profile.
Safety & monitoring
Is HRT safe?
When prescribed and monitored appropriately, bioidentical HRT is considered safe and effective. Your treatment is personalized based on your labs, symptoms, and risk factors — and we continue to monitor your health throughout your therapy.
Are there side effects?
Some patients experience temporary side effects as hormone levels adjust, such as:
- Breast tenderness
- Mood changes
- Mild acne
- Spotting (in women)
These typically resolve as your body finds its balance. We monitor closely and adjust as needed.
How are hormones monitored?
We monitor your progress with:
- Routine bloodwork (every 8–12 weeks initially)
- Symptom tracking
- Adjustments to dose or delivery method based on your response
Can I continue taking my supplements or other medications?
Yes, in most cases. Please inform your provider of all current medications and supplements so we can ensure there are no interactions and your overall wellness plan is well coordinated.
Do I need a mammogram before starting pellets?
In most cases, yes — if you are 40 or older and have breasts, we recommend a recent mammogram (within the past 12 months) prior to starting hormone pellet therapy, especially if you're receiving estrogen. This is part of our commitment to your safety and proactive breast health.
Why? Hormones — particularly estrogen — can influence breast tissue. A baseline mammogram helps ensure there are no abnormalities before beginning therapy and allows us to monitor changes over time.
Is bioidentical hormone therapy different from regular HRT?
Bioidentical hormones are molecularly identical to what your body makes. They're available in both FDA-approved and compounded forms. Nathalie offers both. The choice depends on dose, delivery preference, and clinical fit — not marketing language.
What makes this practice different?
Long visits, comprehensive labs, transparent pricing, bioidentical options, and a clinician who actually reads your labs with you. No starter packs, no sales pressure, no seven-minute appointments.
Women & HRT
How do I know if I'm in perimenopause?
Perimenopause can start as early as the late 30s. Cycle changes, worsening PMS, sleep disruption, new anxiety, brain fog, or weight shifts can all be early signs. Labs help confirm — but symptoms often precede lab changes.
I'm post-menopausal. Am I too late for HRT?
The "window of opportunity" discussion is nuanced. Many post-menopausal patients still benefit significantly from HRT — especially for symptoms, bone health, and genitourinary concerns. We'll walk through your specific risk-benefit picture.
What about breast cancer risk?
Modern data — post the WHI reinterpretation — is more nuanced than the original headlines suggested. Your personal and family history, hormone type, and timing all matter. We'll have an evidence-based, honest conversation with you.
Do women need testosterone too?
Often, yes. Testosterone affects libido, energy, mood, muscle tone, and cognition in women too. Low-dose testosterone is a legitimate part of female hormone care when indicated by labs and symptoms.
Men & TRT
What qualifies as "low T"?
It's a combination of labs and symptoms. A single number doesn't tell the story — we look at total T, free T, SHBG, estradiol, and your clinical picture together. A "normal" lab with classic low-T symptoms still deserves real evaluation.
Is TRT dangerous?
When properly prescribed and monitored, modern TRT has a strong safety profile. The recent landmark TRAVERSE trial supported cardiovascular safety for appropriately selected men. Monitoring — hematocrit, PSA, estradiol — is what keeps it safe.
Will TRT affect fertility?
Standard TRT suppresses natural production and can reduce fertility. For men who want to preserve fertility, we use alternative protocols (hCG, enclomiphene, or combination approaches). Always discussed up front.
Do I have to take it forever?
Not necessarily. Some men do TRT long-term. Others use it for a defined period then transition off with a restart protocol. Your goals drive the plan.
Logistics & care
Do you offer telehealth?
Yes. Patients anywhere in Florida can be seen entirely by video. Labs can be drawn locally at partner facilities.
What if I've already had labs recently?
Send them over. If they're within 60–90 days and include the right markers, we may be able to use them and discount your program accordingly.
How long until I feel different?
Most patients notice meaningful changes in sleep, mood, and energy within 4–8 weeks. Body composition, libido, and deeper metabolic changes build through months 3–6 as your protocol is refined.
Can I message between visits?
Yes. All patients have direct messaging access through our HIPAA-compliant patient portal. Clinical questions are answered within one business day.
What pharmacies do you use?
We partner with reputable compounding pharmacies with strong quality track records, plus standard commercial pharmacies for FDA-approved medications. You choose what fits your budget and preferences.
Do you treat patients outside Florida?
Currently Nathalie is licensed in Florida only. We may add additional states in the future — contact us and we'll let you know when we expand.
Can I bring my spouse or partner to my first visit?
Absolutely. Many patients bring a partner for their initial visit. Hormones affect relationships — it's healthy to include them.
Will this interact with my other medications?
We review your complete medication list and coordinate with your other providers when helpful. Hormone therapy is compatible with the majority of commonly prescribed medications.
